Neutrogena Hydro Boost Facial Cleansing Wipes

Editor's Take

Useful makeup removal, modest hydration credentials, and a familiar silicone glide. Hydro Boost is the headline, but glycerin has the better supporting evidence.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Clean Standards: 4.0 / 10
  • Formula Sustainability: 5.8 / 10

The Verdict

Ulta’s pitch is a wipe that removes dirt, oil and makeup, including waterproof mascara, glides gently over face and eyes, and leaves skin hydrated and touchably soft. Its listing adds daily, no-rinse use, suitability for sensitive skin, “Derm Recommended,” and disposable cloth described as 100% plant-based. That cloth claim cannot be checked from INCI, nor can Neutrogena’s up-to-99% makeup-removal figure, for which no measurement method is stated. Decyl isostearate and isopropyl isostearate plausibly help dissolve makeup, while glycerin supports moisture and dimethicone provides the slip of a familiar silicone system. Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid is seventeenth and present in a small amount, making glycerin the more credible anchor for hydration rather than suggesting a notable technology advance. Fragrance, fourteenth, is a drawback against green chemistry principles and makes the sensitive-skin assurance harder to endorse. Formula sustainability is constrained by persistent dimethicone and petrochemical isohexadecane. The convincing part is convenient cleansing, not a skincare transformation, and the disposal instructions are straightforward: trash the cloth, do not flush it.
