Vanicream™ Vitamin C Serum
by Vanicream · skin_care
Editor's Take
Vanicream gives vitamin C some sensible company: five ceramides, carnosine, and no fragrance. The appeal is useful chemistry for sensitive skin, not a bid to reinvent the serum.
Four-pillar formula scores
- Performance: 8.2 / 10
- Innovative Ingredients: 7.8 / 10
- Clean Standards: 9.7 / 10
- Formula Sustainability: 9.6 / 10
The Verdict
Vanicream promises a mild, gentle, fragrance-free vitamin C serum for sensitive skin that will not clog pores. Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, fourth, supplies a stable vitamin C derivative for credible brightening without relying on acidic L-ascorbic acid. Carnosine adds antioxidant support, while five ceramides and hydrogenated lecithin support the barrier-focused formula. Its close fit with green chemistry principles deserves considerable credit: the listed exclusions of dyes, fragrance, masking fragrance, lanolin, parabens and formaldehyde releasers are consistent with the INCI, with polyacrylate crosspolymer-6 the sole notable clean-standard drawback. The brand also says gluten-free, although ingredient names alone cannot establish gluten status. Formula sustainability is excellent overall, with glycerin contributing positively and persistent polyacrylate crosspolymer-6 the notable reservation, not evidence that the finished serum is biodegradable. Neither the non-comedogenic promise nor finished-product gentleness can be proved by an ingredient list. This is a persuasive combination of brightening and barrier support for sensitive skin, with more strength in its ingredient choices than in technological novelty.
