Editor's Take

CeraVe gets the acne-cleanser brief right: Gluconolactone clears gently while ceramides keep the barrier from paying the usual price.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 7.8 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 7.5 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 8.0 / 10
  • Sustainability: 6.9 / 10

The Verdict

Efficacy is Strong, with Gluconolactone, Niacinamide, and three ceramides making this unusually barrier-aware for an acne cleanser. Clean is Excellent, despite PEG-150 and synthetic chelators keeping it outside stricter natural standards. Technology is Modern, thanks to mild surfactants and a biomimetic ceramide, cholesterol, and phytosphingosine blend. A credible daily acne wash that treats congestion without treating the barrier as collateral damage.
