CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30

Editor's Take

A mineral SPF with a triple-ceramide complex and MVE controlled-release tech, but the parabens and dated emulsion base clash with the modern barrier-repair story.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 7.5 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 8.5 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 4.8 / 10
  • Sustainability: 5.5 / 10

The Verdict

The formula does two things well: it protects skin with Zinc Oxide and rebuilds the barrier with Niacinamide and a ceramide triad. The MVE delivery system is genuinely advanced, releasing lipids over time instead of dumping them all at once. But the preservative system is pure 2005 drugstore , Methylparaben and Propylparaben sit in the middle of the list, and the emulsion leans on Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Dimethicone for structure and slip. If you want mineral SPF with real barrier repair and don't mind legacy chemistry, this works. If you're avoiding parabens or shopping clean, the base won't clear the bar.
