CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

by CeraVe · skin_care

Editor's Take

CeraVe gets the wash right with gentle foam and ceramides, but clean-beauty shoppers will spot throwback drugstore chemistry under the sink.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 7.8 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 6.5 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 3.6 / 10
  • Sustainability: 6.9 / 10

The Verdict

Efficacy is Strong here: Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate and Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine give a mild, foaming cleanse, while Niacinamide, Ceramide NP, cholesterol, and phytosphingosine make it kinder to a daily oily-to-normal skin routine than most drugstore foams. Technology is Modern, mostly because the barrier-lipid blend is doing more than a basic cleanser has to do. The trade-off is the clean score: parabens, PEG ingredients, Propylene Glycol, and EDTA put this nowhere near a clean-beauty shelf. A credible daily cleanser for performance and barrier comfort, not for ingredient minimalists.
