CeraVe Intensive Moisturizing Lotion

by CeraVe · body_care

Editor's Take

CeraVe put the good barrier stuff where it counts: ceramides, urea, and shea do serious dry-skin work, though clean purists won’t love the synthetics.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 8.8 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 7.8 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 6.5 / 10
  • Sustainability: 7.9 / 10

The Verdict

Efficacy is Exceptional at 8.8, and that tracks with the bottle: Glycerin, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Shea Butter, Sodium PCA, and three ceramides make this a serious dry-skin lotion. Technology is Modern at 7.8, with a cationic emulsion that helps barrier lipids stay where they’re useful instead of just rinsing off the idea of repair. The trade-off is clean positioning: Dimethicone, Carbomer, petrochemical emollients, and synthetic polymers keep the clean score at 6.5, so this is not a purist formula. For cracked shins, winter arms, and over-washed hands, it earns its shelf space as a drugstore barrier lotion with real treatment chops.
