Drunk Elephant Slaai™ Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser

Editor's Take

One of the cleaner balm cleansers on the shelf: PEG-free, fragrance-free, melts long-wear makeup well, though the eco story is good rather than spotless.

The Verdict

Slaai is the kind of cleansing balm I’d hand to someone who wears stubborn mascara but hates when a balm feels crude or greasy. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride and safflower oil do the makeup-dissolving work, while PEG-free polyglyceryl emulsifiers help it turn milky and rinse clean. The clean profile is excellent, with no fragrance baggage, and the lipid mix gives it more cushion than a plain mineral-oil balm. Worth it as a daily first cleanse for heavy sunscreen, long-wear makeup, and dry or barrier-fussy skin.
