K18 Biomimetic Hairscience - TripleBright Oxidation Defense Purple Shampoo Foam

by K18 · hair_care

Editor's Take

K18 built a smarter purple shampoo than the usual violet wash, but the clean-beauty halo takes a hit from fragrance, Polysorbate 20, and quats.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 7.8 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 8.0 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 3.3 / 10
  • Sustainability: 7.4 / 10

The Verdict

This is one of the better-built purple shampoos for blond, gray, or highlighted hair because it tackles brassiness from two sides: violet pigment plus mineral-trapping chelators. The amino-acid cleanser base should feel gentler than a harsh sulfate wash, and Polyquaternium-77 helps the tone land instead of rinsing straight down the drain. The trade-off is the clean story: fragrance, listed allergens, Polysorbate 20, phenoxyethanol, and a quat make it far from a purist formula. Worth it when brassiness is driven by hard water and dull buildup, not the bottle I’d hand to a reactive scalp.
