La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm B5 Soothing Therapeutic Multi Purpose Cream

Editor's Take

This is the balm I’d hand over for a cranky barrier, but not to anyone chasing green chemistry or a featherlight finish.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 8.8 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 7.5 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 6.8 / 10
  • Sustainability: 5.4 / 10

The Verdict

La Roche-Posay gets the important part right: Panthenol, Madecassoside, shea butter, and a stubborn occlusive base make this a strong recovery cream for dry, irritated, over-washed skin. The feel comes from silicone and hydrogenated polyisobutene, so expect protection and slip more than a light, breathable lotion feel. The green-chemistry side is the weak spot, since the same ingredients that make it cling also make it petrochemical-heavy and less biodegradable. Worth it as a practical barrier balm, not as a clean-beauty trophy.
