Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream

Editor's Take

Dimethicone and a cationic quat do the heavy lifting; the argan oil is real but outnumbered by silicone slip and drugstore conditioning chemistry.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 6.8 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 4.5 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 3.3 / 10
  • Sustainability: 5.9 / 10

The Verdict

This is a silicone-forward leave-in conditioner dressed up as a styling cream. Dimethicone at position 2 delivers the frizz control and surface gloss, while Behentrimonium Chloride handles detangling, classic salon-grade slip chemistry from the early 2000s. The argan oil is present but functionally secondary to the synthetic base. Two EU-banned fragrance allergens (Lilial and Lyral) sit mid-list, a regulatory red flag for sensitive users. It works for soft, frizz-resistant styling, but the formula is pure heritage drugstore, not modern treatment innovation.
