Nexxus Humectress Moisture Conditioner

Editor's Take

Strong detangling and a serious protein stack put this above basic drugstore conditioner, but the preservative choices feel stuck in another aisle, and another decade.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 7.8 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 5.5 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 1.3 / 10
  • Sustainability: 4.3 / 10

The Verdict

Nexxus gets the practical job right: Dimethicone and conditioning quats give wet hair excellent slip, while elastin, keratin, and trehalose support temporary smoothness and moisture retention. The trade-off is a dated preservative package, including DMDM Hydantoin and MI/MCI, which makes the clean profile well aligned weak and may not suit sensitized scalps. Persistent silicones, quats, and uncertain animal-derived protein sourcing also keep sustainability below par. A high-performing detangler held back by throwback drugstore chemistry.
