NYX Professional Makeup Butter Gloss Non-Sticky Lip Gloss

by NYX Professional Makeup · makeup

Editor's Take

Great drugstore shine, but the Butter Gloss trick is old-school petroleum glossing, not clean-lip innovation, and that trade-off is the whole counter note.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 7.8 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 4.5 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 1.0 / 10
  • Sustainability: 3.0 / 10

The Verdict

The bottle says formula. The INCI says something more ordinary. The less pretty part is what's doing that work, with Mineral Oil, Paraffin, Microcrystalline Wax, Polyethylene, fragrance, and synthetic colorants dragging the clean score down hard. Sustainability lands in the Lower Sustainability Fit band, mostly because the base leans on persistent petroleum-derived ingredients rather than biodegradable gloss materials. As a cheap, shiny, comfortable lip gloss, it does what it claims; as a cleaner or more future-facing lip product, it is pure throwback drugstore chemistry.
