Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Frizz Reduction & Heat Protectant Hair Oil

by Olaplex · hair_care

Editor's Take

A bottle of silicone masquerading as an oil, built for instant shine and heat defense, not strand nutrition.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 7.4 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 5.8 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 2.8 / 10
  • Sustainability: 0.0 / 10

The Verdict

Marketed as an oil, formulated as a silicone serum with a splash of plant extracts. Dimethicone and Phenyl Trimethicone lead the formula, delivering professional-grade shine and thermal protection up to 450°F , the efficacy is real, the frizz control is immediate, and the heat shield works. But the base is pure legacy salon chemistry: persistent silicones, petrochemical hydrocarbons, and a chemical UV filter that tanks the clean score to 2.8. Worth it if you need high-gloss armor for heat styling and don't care what's coating the cuticle.
