OLAPLEX No.7 Bonding Hair Oil
by OLAPLEX · hair_care
Editor's Take
Sold as an oil, built as a silicone serum; the bond-repair active earns some credibility, but the plant oils are supporting cast.
Four-pillar formula scores
- Efficacy: 7.8 / 10
- Modern Tech: 8.5 / 10
- Clean Beauty: 4.3 / 10
- Sustainability: 3.5 / 10
The Verdict
The bottle says oil. The INCI says silicone, with Dimethicone leading while the plant oils sit lower. Its Highly Advanced technology and Strong efficacy are earned: Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate supports bond repair, while Dimethicone adds shine, lubrication, and heat protection. Clean beauty alignment is Weak, and sustainability is a Lower Sustainability Fit because the persistent silicone and petrochemical-heavy blend undercuts the greener image. A credible heat-styling finisher with repair credentials, not a true hair oil.
