Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser
by Philosophy · skin_care
Editor's Take
It earns its one-step reputation at the sink, but the old-school ethoxylated base leaves clean-beauty shoppers with more compromise than the creamy finish suggests.
Four-pillar formula scores
- Efficacy: 7.8 / 10
- Modern Tech: 5.5 / 10
- Clean Beauty: 1.8 / 10
- Sustainability: 7.9 / 10
The Verdict
Efficacy is Strong at 7.8: Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Coco-Glucoside, and Meadowfoam Seed Oil make this a capable makeup-removing daily cleanser with a comfortable finish. Sustainability is Good at 7.9, though Clean is Very Poor at 1.8 because Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, PEG compounds, synthetic preservatives, and Yellow 5 dominate that trade-off. Technology has Some Modern Features at 5.5, chiefly the useful lipid-surfactant blend rather than competently built chemistry. A credible one-step cleanser, but not a convincing clean-beauty pick.
