Pureology Smooth Perfection Conditioner

Editor's Take

Pureology earns its salon reputation on frizz and knots, but the throwback conventional base makes its clean positioning hard to defend.

Four-pillar formula scores

  • Efficacy: 7.8 / 10
  • Modern Tech: 6.8 / 10
  • Clean Beauty: 1.8 / 10
  • Sustainability: 4.5 / 10

The Verdict

Efficacy is Strong: Behentrimonium Chloride and Cetyl Esters provide serious slip for detangling coarse, frizz-prone hair, while Keravis™ adds anti-breakage support. Technology is Modern, with layered conditioning and UV-protection features, but Clean is Poor and sustainability is Mixed due to ethoxylated surfactants, fragrance, and persistent polymers. Worth it for high-gloss smoothing when performance matters more than green chemistry.
